Glaciovolcanism and Hazards at Mount Rainier

Sep. 13 — Sep. 18 2026

Participated in a field-based workshop at Mount Rainier organized by the IAVCEI/IACS Volcano-Ice Interactions Commission. Explored volcano–ice interactions, glaciation, and volcanic hazards through field observations following the USGS Mount Rainier field guide. Investigated lava–ice interactions, hydrothermal alteration, lahars, and glacial history through field observations with scientists across various disciplines.

Glacier and Machine Learning Summer School (GlaMacLeS)

June 14 — June 23 2025

Attended the NSF-funded GlaMacLeS held at the Taft-Nicholson Center in Southwest Montana. Explored the intersection of glaciology and machine learning through interactive lectures and hands-on projects. Topics included deep learning for remote sensing, Gaussian process emulation, and adjoint methods for glacier modeling.

NASA Earth Sciences & UW Hackweek

Aug. 19 — Aug. 23 2024

Participated in the 2024 NASA Hackweek as a research collaborator in the GeoSMART track. Contributed to the “Crunchy Snow” project, developing machine learning models for snow depth retrieval using Sentinel‑1 SAR data. Focused on statistical error analysis and spatial autocorrelation via variograms to improve model accuracy and reliability.
